The 2009 Annual Golden Oak Awards

(aka the second annual "Oakie" awards)

The Druid Academy Nomination Award Committee (DANAC) consists of a members drawn from six different Druid organizations that share a historical connection to each other and are primarily located in North America. The commitee includes the following:

• • Tony Taylor of Henge of Keltria (HoK)
  • Skip Ellison of Ar nDraiocht Fein (ADF)
  • Michael Scharding of the Reformed Druids of North America (RDNA)
  • Ellen Evert Hopman of Order of the White Oak (OWO)
  • Ellis Arseneau of the Reformed Druids of Gaia (RDG)
  • Thomas Harris of the Missionary Order of the Celtic Cross (MOCC)

Members of the Henge of Keltria won the following DANAC Awards:

Greatest hardship overcome in 2009. Non-exhaustive examples include: persecution, financial obstacles, medical impairments, isolation, time constraints, educational restraints, etc.

WINNER #1: Isaac Bonewits (ADF, RDNA, Keltria, etc.) for his many challenges related to his cancer therapy.

WINNER #2: Maudhnait of Keltria for her many struggles to surmount the obstacles during and after her son Cody’s passing.

Best "Druidical" essay or article released or printed in 2009.

WINNER #1 Talking About the Elephant, a book of essays, with an essay in there by Jenne Micale of Keltria. (Available at Amazon.com)

Lifetime Achievement Award

Winner: Isaac Bonewits,

A unanimous decision, for his 33 years of publications, organizing activity, presentations, wit, humor, research and dedication to Druidism. A giant in the field, known by all. May he have another bountiful 33 years to inspire and harrangue the rest of us.
