[Ed. note: Much of the article relates to a shift from Regional Coordinators to Special Interest Groups.]These are good times for Keltria. Along with the change of the seasons comes the scent of positive changes for our organization. Over the past several months, there has been a trend of people committing to form Groves. This is a natural evolution and one that the Henge leadership will do its best to support. Groves are free to choose their level of involvement in the greater community, however it is our hope that most will share what they are doing. It’s easy to make a noise like a party and have people interested in the cause of the celebration. This is, after all how Keltria began to grow in the first place.The concept of Regional Coordinators was a good thing and needed at the time. The original mission of these volunteers was to assist in networking, help the Henge office with correspondence from members, and perhaps encourage members in their areas to get together. Dividing the regions by postal codes made sense to the computer program but, for example, this put Chicago in the Southern Region, which doesn’t make much sense. Therefore, we will begin a shift from a regional focus to Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and will not fill the regional positions as they are vacated. The object is to encourage the members to communicate with each other. I hope that moving to specific areas of interest rather than regions will promote this. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers who have been operating as Regional Coordinators for the super job they are doing and have done.The new SIGs are divided into the Triad of Keltrian disciplines plus one other. The Bardic group will provide a forum for folks developing those skills. Likewise, the Seer group will function as a platform for those interested in divination and how it contributes to the Keltrian Druid path. The third discipline, Druid SIG will focus on the particular needs those who are currently in grove leadership positions or are dedicated to doing so. A fourth group, the Solitaries SIG will be for those who are exploring the Keltrian path alone by chance or choice. Each SIG will facilitate communications among those who wish to share their challenges and successes. Members of the Henge may participate in more than one SIG. The Board of Trustees is now accepting applications and proposals from those members interested in acting as dvisors/coordinators for these four groups.As our contribution to these efforts, Tony and I have decided to cease publication of Keltria Journal and concentrate on expanding Henge Happenings. Over the next several issues, you can expect to see reviews of particular interest to the membership, articles written by members and more emphasis on networking through publishing contributions to the new SIG sections. The number of pages in each issue will be directly proportional to how many members contribute items for publication. The original concept for Henge Happenings was that it was for and by the membership. The goal for this is to inspire more participation from individual members and Groves.It’s very heartening to see so many folks excited about our tradition and interested in promoting it. As The Henge of Keltria grows, we are committed to evolving with it to meet the spiritual needs of our members.
